How did you learn Ruby on Rails?

WebQuestions asked:

I want to learn ROR, but I do not know which book do I need to get it first. I noticed that everyone is saying that ” Agile Web Development with Rails, 2nd Edition” is the best, but I prefer to buy ” Practical Rails Projects by Eldon Alameda” So, please let me your suggestions? Please keep in mind that I already know Java and PHP.

First place I’d head is over to 37signals and see what they recommend. I mean, after all, they did make it. They’re also really helpful and the have a blog called Signal vs. Noise where they’ll cover it.

Though, my first resource to run to is usually Lynda.com for my computer-related learning. It’s not free but it’s worth every penny. I use them all the time when I need to learn something new. It’s how I learned CSS and right now I’m using it to learn ActionScript 3.0.
